Which Dragon's Den investor joined the BBC series in 2006 after Rachel Elnaugh's departure?

The story behind the answer

Deborah Meaden joined the BBC series Dragon's Den in 2006 after Rachel Elnaugh's departure.

Meaden is an English businesswoman and investor who became one of the programme's most recognisable Dragons. Before joining the television cast, she had built a career in business and had been involved with a range of companies, including the family holiday business Weststar Holidays.

Rachel Elnaugh was one of the original Dragons in the British series. Meaden's arrival therefore marked a change in the regular investment panel rather than the launch of a new programme or a new version of the format.

Several later investors, including Sara Davies, Kelly Hoppen and Jenny Campbell, also joined the show, but they arrived in different periods. Their later appearances are a common source of confusion when identifying Meaden's 2006 debut.
