Peter Jones has appeared as the only original Dragon's Den investor in every series.
Jones joined the original panel when the British programme launched in 2005. The first group also included Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Doug Richard and Simon Woodroffe, but those other original investors eventually left the regular panel. Jones therefore became the sole constant member of the investor lineup across the series.
He is a British entrepreneur whose business interests have included consumer technology, telecommunications and leisure. On the programme, he is recognised for his tall stature and for questioning entrepreneurs about valuation, margins and the practical route to growth.
“Original dragon” means a member of the launch panel, not simply an investor who has appeared early in the programme's history. Several other long-serving dragons are strongly associated with the show, but the continuous-series distinction belongs to Jones.
