Which Dragon's Den investor founded Yo! Sushi before joining the show?
Answer
Simon Woodroffe
Answer
Simon Woodroffe
Simon Woodroffe founded Yo! Sushi before joining Dragon's Den.
Woodroffe launched Yo! Sushi in 1997, introducing a British restaurant audience to a conveyor-belt service model inspired by sushi restaurants in Japan. Customers could select dishes as they passed by, creating a distinctive combination of fast service, visual presentation and technology-led restaurant design.
He became one of the original investors on the British Dragon's Den panel when the programme began in 2005. His business background made him especially associated with hospitality, branding and customer experience. Woodroffe later founded other ventures, including the hotel brand YOTEL.
The restaurant's name is usually written “YO! Sushi,” while the investor's name is Simon Woodroffe. He is sometimes confused with Theo Paphitis, another Dragon associated with retail and branding, but Paphitis did not found Yo! Sushi. Woodroffe's Dragon's Den tenure was limited to the earliest series.
