Which Dragon's Den investor founded the YO! brand?

The story behind the answer

Simon Woodroffe founded the YO! brand.

Woodroffe created the YO! brand after developing YO! Sushi, a restaurant concept known for serving dishes on a conveyor belt. The idea combined Japanese-inspired food with a distinctive self-service presentation, making the format visually memorable as well as commercially unusual in Britain.

He became one of the original investors on the UK version of Dragon's Den when it launched in 2005. His career was rooted in creating consumer-facing concepts and brands, rather than only investing in established financial businesses.

The answer is Simon Woodroffe, not a later dragon associated with hospitality or food. The YO! name subsequently became connected with other ventures, including YO! Hotel, but the foundational brand association is with Woodroffe and YO! Sushi.
