Which Dragon’s Den investor founded the pallet-distribution network Pall-Ex?

The story behind the answer

Hilary Devey founded the pallet-distribution network Pall-Ex.

Devey established Pall-Ex in 1996 as a freight-distribution network focused on palletised goods. The model connected independent transport companies so that freight could be consolidated and moved efficiently through a shared network. This addressed a practical logistics problem: individual carriers could handle local work while the network coordinated national distribution.

Her success in logistics made Devey a notable business figure before she joined the Dragon’s Den panel. She became particularly associated with transport, supply chains and operational businesses, rather than only consumer-facing products.

Pall-Ex is not the same as a single haulage company or a parcel-delivery brand. It is a network-based pallet distribution business. Devey’s role was founder and entrepreneur, while the televised Dragon’s Den investment businesses were separate from Pall-Ex’s original creation.
