Which Dragon's Den investor founded the online marketplace Moonpig?
Answer
Nick Jenkins
Answer
Nick Jenkins
Nick Jenkins founded the online marketplace Moonpig.
Nick Jenkins founded Moonpig in 2000 after recognising that personalised greetings cards could be ordered online. The service became known for letting customers create cards with names, photographs and other personalised details before delivery. Its name came from Jenkins’s family nickname, rather than from a Dragon's Den pitch.
Jenkins later joined Dragon's Den as an investor in 2015. Because Moonpig is a prominent consumer brand, it is sometimes incorrectly connected to another dragon’s portfolio or assumed to have been created through a televised deal. In fact, the business pre-dated his appearance on the programme by many years.
Moonpig expanded from cards into gifts and related products. The company’s later growth reflects a broader shift in retail from physical shops to online personalisation, while its original proposition remained centred on making a greeting card feel individually designed.
