Which Dragon's Den investor founded the greeting-card company Red Letter Days?

The story behind the answer

Rachel Elnaugh founded the greeting-card and experience business Red Letter Days.

Elnaugh established Red Letter Days in 1989. The company became known for selling experience gifts, such as driving days, flights and other memorable activities, packaged as presents rather than conventional physical products.

She joined the original Dragon's Den panel when the BBC programme launched in 2005. Her entrepreneurial background made her an important part of the show's first investor lineup, although she later left the panel.

Red Letter Days subsequently encountered serious financial difficulties and went into administration in 2005. The brand was later acquired by other business interests. That later history is why biographies may discuss both Elnaugh's founding role and the company's separate ownership after its collapse.
