Which Dragon's Den investor founded the fitness-club chain Bannatyne Group?
Answer
Duncan Bannatyne
Answer
Duncan Bannatyne
Duncan Bannatyne founded the fitness-club chain Bannatyne Group.
Duncan Bannatyne is a Scottish entrepreneur and philanthropist whose business interests include health clubs, hotels and spas. The Bannatyne Group became one of the largest health-club operators in the United Kingdom, offering gym, fitness and wellness facilities under his name.
Bannatyne was one of the five original investors on Dragon's Den when the BBC programme launched in 2005. His personal story, including earlier ventures in ice cream and care homes, helped make him one of the show's most recognisable early Dragons.
The company name is the useful clue: Bannatyne Group is directly named for its founder. This should not be confused with Peter Jones's technology and retail interests or Theo Paphitis's stationery and retail businesses, which are separate entrepreneurial histories.
