Peter Jones created the telecommunications retailer Phones International Group.
Jones founded Phones International Group in 1998. The company operated in the mobile-phone sector, a field that became increasingly important as mobile ownership expanded in Britain and across Europe. His telecommunications background helped establish his reputation before and during his television career.
He became one of the original Dragons on the British version of Dragon's Den and is the programme's longest-serving original investor. His business interests have also included technology, media, property and consumer brands.
Phones International Group should not be confused with Phones 4u, a separate British mobile-phone retailer founded by John Caudwell. That distinction matters because both names are associated with the mobile-phone market, but only Phones International Group was created by Peter Jones.
