Which Dragon's Den investor became the first black British Dragon on the BBC programme?
Answer
Steven Bartlett
Steven Bartlett became the first black British Dragon on the BBC programme Dragon's Den.
Bartlett joined the investment panel in 2021. He is an entrepreneur, author and podcast host whose business career began in social-media and digital marketing. He co-founded Social Chain, a social-media marketing agency that grew into an international business.
His appointment marked a significant change in the programme’s panel and brought a younger digital-business perspective to the show. Bartlett has often focused on brand, audience growth, technology and the founder’s personal understanding of a market.
The wording “first black British Dragon” refers to his place on the BBC programme’s regular panel. It does not mean he was the first black entrepreneur ever to appear as a contestant or guest on the wider franchise.
