Dragon's Den entrepreneur Rob Law invented the children's ride-on suitcase called Trunki.
Law developed Trunki as a child-friendly piece of luggage that children can sit on and ride while travelling. The product was designed to make airport journeys more manageable for families while giving children a distinctive role in carrying their own belongings.
Trunki became famous in Dragon's Den history because Law's pitch did not result in an investment agreement with the Dragons. Despite that television outcome, the product went on to achieve major commercial success and became an internationally recognised travel accessory.
The story is often used to illustrate that a failed television deal does not necessarily mean a weak business. Trunki's subsequent growth depended on product design, manufacturing, distribution and brand development rather than on securing a Dragon's money. Rob Law is therefore the inventor and entrepreneur associated with the product, not a Dragon himself.
