Which Dragon's Den entrepreneur created the gift-experience company Red Letter Days?

The story behind the answer

Rachel Elnaugh created the gift-experience company Red Letter Days.

Red Letter Days sold vouchers for experiences rather than conventional physical presents. Customers could buy activities such as driving experiences, flights and other special events, making the company an early example of experience-based gifting in the UK.

Elnaugh's business success led to her appointment as one of the original Dragons on the British programme. The company later encountered financial difficulties and entered administration in 2005. Peter Jones acquired parts of the business, a development that is often remembered alongside Elnaugh's role on the show.

Red Letter Days should not be confused with businesses founded by Deborah Meaden, Sara Davies or Peter Jones. The company is particularly useful for identifying Elnaugh because it connects her entrepreneurial career, the first Dragon's Den panel and one of the programme's best-known business histories.
