Kelly Hoppen was the first member of the British Dragons' Den panel to receive an MBE.
Hoppen was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to interior design in 2009. The honour recognised her long career as a designer and entrepreneur, rather than her television work alone.
She is known for a restrained interior-design style often described through neutral colours, clean lines and a blend of Eastern and Western influences. Her design career made her a different kind of Dragon from investors whose backgrounds were mainly in retail or finance.
An MBE is a national honour within the British honours system. It is not the same as an OBE or CBE, and the question refers specifically to the first panel member to receive an MBE, not the first woman to invest on the programme.
