The Dragon known on the UK show Dragon's Den as Duncan Bannatyne was born Duncan Walker Bannatyne.
Bannatyne was born in Clydebank, Scotland, in 1949. He built businesses in care homes, health clubs and hotels, becoming a prominent entrepreneur before joining the BBC investment programme. His public name is normally shortened to Duncan Bannatyne, while his full birth name includes the middle name Walker.
He was one of the original Dragons when the UK series began in 2005 and stayed on the programme until 2014. This identity detail is different from questions about which Dragon founded a particular company: Bannatyne is especially associated with the Bannatyne Group, whose businesses include health clubs and hotels.
