Which Dragon replaced Rachel Elnaugh on the British television programme Dragon's Den in 2006?

The story behind the answer

Deborah Meaden replaced Rachel Elnaugh on the British television programme Dragon's Den in 2006.

Meaden joined the panel in the programme's second series, taking the seat vacated by Rachel Elnaugh. Her arrival added another highly experienced business investor to the group, and she became one of the show's longest-serving and most recognisable Dragons.

She built her career in business and investments, including work connected with leisure and holiday companies. In the Den, Meaden became known for concentrating on realistic valuations, margins, ownership percentages and whether a founder could deliver the proposed plan.

The timing can be confused because the show changed investors frequently during its early years. Meaden did not replace a later Dragon such as Kelly Hoppen or Sara Davies; she replaced Elnaugh near the beginning of the British series. Her tenure subsequently ran for many years.
