Which Dragon left the regular panel after the first series of the BBC show Dragon's Den?
Answer
Simon Woodroffe
Answer
Simon Woodroffe
Simon Woodroffe left the regular Dragon's Den panel after the programme's first series.
Woodroffe was one of the original investors when the British version began airing in 2005. He is best known as the founder of the Yo! brand, particularly Yo! Sushi, which introduced a conveyor-belt dining concept to Britain. His business background made him one of the original Dragons selected to assess entrepreneurs' pitches.
Woodroffe's departure is easy to mix up with changes involving other early panel members. Doug Richard also belonged to the original lineup, while Duncan Bannatyne remained a prominent Dragon for many years. Richard Farleigh was a later investor rather than a member of the original five-person panel.
After Woodroffe's exit, the programme continued with changing combinations of Dragons. The rotating lineup became a defining feature of the series, allowing different investors to bring expertise in retail, technology, property and consumer businesses.
