Duncan Bannatyne left the main British Dragons' Den panel in 2014 after appearing from its first series.
Bannatyne is a Scottish entrepreneur, author and philanthropist whose business career included health clubs, care homes and other ventures. He was one of the investors present when the British adaptation began, making him part of the programme's original era.
His departure is sometimes confused with the exits of Theo Paphitis, James Caan or other investors who also occupied prominent places on the panel. The year 2014 identifies Bannatyne's exit from the regular cast, not the end of his business career or his only appearance on television.
Dragons' Den changes its panel periodically so that new investors can bring different industries and viewpoints to the negotiations. The core format, however, remains the same: entrepreneurs seek capital and expertise while offering a portion of ownership in return.
