Which Dragon left the BBC programme Dragon's Den in 2014 after serving as an investor since its first series?

The story behind the answer

Duncan Bannatyne left the BBC programme Dragon's Den in 2014 after serving as an investor since its first series.

Bannatyne was one of the original Dragons when the British series launched in 2005. He was known for building businesses in health clubs, care homes and hotels, and his direct negotiating style became a familiar part of the programme.

He departed after the twelfth series, ending a run of more than a decade on the panel. His departure came before several later investors joined, so the lineup changed substantially during the programme's subsequent seasons.

Bannatyne is sometimes confused with Peter Jones when viewers recall the original male investors. Jones remained on the programme, whereas Bannatyne was the original Dragon who left in 2014.
