Which Dragon joined the UK show Dragons' Den in 2006 after Rachel Elnaugh left?

The story behind the answer

Deborah Meaden joined the UK show Dragons' Den in 2006 after Rachel Elnaugh left the panel.

Meaden is an English businesswoman and investor who became one of the programme's most recognisable Dragons. Before joining the show, she had built a career in business, including work in leisure and tourism. Her investment style on television is associated with direct questioning, attention to financial details and a willingness to negotiate clearly.

Her arrival occurred early in the programme's history, after the first panel had already established the series. She subsequently became a long-serving Dragon and remained strongly identified with the British version.

Meaden is sometimes confused with later female Dragons such as Kelly Hoppen, Jenny Campbell and Sara Davies. Those investors joined in different periods; Meaden's entry followed Elnaugh's departure in 2006.
