Which Dragon joined the British television programme Dragons' Den in series 9, replacing James Caan?

The story behind the answer

Hilary Devey joined the British television programme Dragons' Den in series 9, replacing James Caan.

Devey was a businesswoman and entrepreneur best known for Pall-Ex, a palletised freight network that she founded. Her logistics background gave her particular experience of transport, supply chains, operational costs, and scaling companies across regions.

She became a Dragon in 2011, entering the panel after James Caan's departure. Her arrival was part of the continuing process of refreshing the cast, a recurring feature of the programme rather than an indication that the format itself had changed.

Devey later left Dragons' Den and went on to present other business and television programmes. She should not be confused with Kelly Hoppen, who joined the panel later, or Sara Davies, who became a Dragon much later. Her tenure is also separate from the career of Deborah Meaden, another prominent female investor on the British show.
