Hilary Devey joined the British television programme Dragon's Den in 2011 after James Caan left.
Devey was a businesswoman best known for Pall-Ex, a palletised freight network that she built into a significant logistics operation. Her business experience shaped the direct, commercially focused style she brought to the investment panel.
She joined the programme for series nine, taking the place vacated by James Caan. Her arrival was part of a period when the panel was changing while the format itself remained the same: entrepreneurs still pitched for money in return for a share of their businesses.
Devey later left Dragon's Den and was succeeded on the panel by Kelly Hoppen. These changes can be confusing because several investors joined during the programme’s long run. The relevant sequence here is Caan, then Devey, rather than the later arrival of Hoppen or other Dragons.
