Tej Lalvani joined the BBC's Dragon's Den panel in 2017 after leading Vitabiotics.
Vitabiotics is a British company that develops and sells vitamins, minerals and nutritional supplements. Lalvani became its chief executive and helped represent the second generation of the family business founded by his father, Kartar Lalvani.
His Dragon's Den profile therefore comes from experience in branded consumer healthcare and international product distribution. That background differs from the technology, retail and property expertise represented by several other investors on the programme.
Lalvani joined the show during a period when the panel was changing frequently. His tenure should not be confused with that of Nick Jenkins, who joined in 2015, or Steven Bartlett, who arrived in 2021. The company name is also sometimes shortened in casual references, but Vitabiotics is the relevant business.
