Tej Lalvani joined Dragons' Den in 2017 as the programme's first Dragon from a third-generation family business.
Lalvani is a British entrepreneur who became chief executive of Vitabiotics, the health-supplement company founded by his father, Kartar Lalvani. The business had been established by his grandfather, which made Lalvani part of its third generation of family leadership.
He joined the Dragons' Den panel in 2017. His professional experience in consumer health products and brand management gave him a perspective that complemented the show's investors from retail, design, technology and leisure.
The wording is specific to his family-business background, not simply his joining date. Nick Jenkins joined in 2015, while Sara Davies joined in 2019. Those entrepreneurs are plausible alternatives when panel chronology is remembered only broadly.
