Tej Lalvani joined BBC's Dragon's Den in 2017 as a third-generation family-business investor.
Lalvani is chief executive of Vitabiotics, the British vitamin and supplement company founded by his father, Kartar Lalvani. Vitabiotics was established in 1971 and became known for brands including Pregnacare, Wellman and Perfectil.
Lalvani joined Dragon's Den for the fifteenth series, which aired in 2017. His background differed from that of several Dragons who built their fortunes primarily through independent retail, property or technology ventures: he had developed leadership experience inside a family-founded health and nutrition company.
The phrase third-generation refers to the family-business lineage rather than the television programme's series number. Lalvani is also sometimes confused with Nick Jenkins, who joined in 2015, and Steven Bartlett, who became a Dragon much later.
