Deborah Meaden invested £80,000 for a 25% stake in GripIt after the wall-fixing product appeared on Dragon's Den.
GripIt was developed by entrepreneur Jordan Daykin, who created a fixing designed to hold objects securely in plasterboard. The product addressed a practical problem: ordinary wall plugs can struggle in hollow or crumbly plasterboard, especially when supporting heavier items.
Meaden's offer valued the business at £320,000 before considering the deal's wider commercial terms. The investment became one of the programme's best-known product deals and gave GripIt access to a Dragon with experience in retail, leisure and consumer businesses.
The company and the investment are sometimes confused with other home-improvement pitches from the programme. The key figures here are specifically £80,000 and 25%, and the Dragon associated with that offer is Deborah Meaden. A television agreement also depends on due diligence, so an on-screen offer is not automatically the same as a completed transaction.
