Which Dragon has been the longest-serving investor on the British show Dragon's Den?

The story behind the answer

Peter Jones has been the longest-serving investor on the British show Dragon's Den.

Jones has appeared on the programme since its first British series in 2005. He is an entrepreneur and investor whose business interests have included technology, media, retail and property. His continued presence made him the only original Dragon to remain a regular investor across the programme’s long run.

The other original investors—Duncan Bannatyne, Theo Paphitis, Rachel Elnaugh and Simon Woodroffe—eventually left the regular panel. Deborah Meaden later became another long-standing Dragon, but she joined after the launch.

The phrase “longest-serving” refers to time as a regular Dragon, not necessarily to the largest number of investments or the greatest amount of money committed. Those categories can produce different answers depending on how deals are counted.
