Peter Jones founded the British electronics retailer Phones International Group.
Phones International Group was established by Jones in 1998 and became involved in mobile-phone retail and telecommunications. The business formed part of his wider entrepreneurial career before and during his long television role on Dragons' Den.
Jones is one of the programme's original investors and is associated with technology, telecommunications, consumer products and retail. His business interests have extended beyond Phones International Group, including investments and media work, so the company should not be mistaken for his entire business portfolio.
The name is also sometimes confused with mobile-network operators. Phones International Group was a retail and telecommunications business, not simply the name of a telephone network. Jones's experience in that sector helped establish his public image as a technology-focused Dragon.
