Which Dragon co-founded YO! Sushi before becoming an investor on Dragon's Den?

The story behind the answer

Simon Woodroffe co-founded YO! Sushi before becoming an investor on Dragon's Den.

Woodroffe founded YO! Sushi in 1997, helping bring conveyor-belt sushi to a broader British audience. The restaurants used a kaiten-style service in which dishes travelled past diners, allowing customers to choose food directly from the moving belt. This distinctive operating model made the brand highly recognisable.

He later served as one of the original Dragons in the first UK series. His business background differed from that of investors focused mainly on finance, retail or property, giving the original panel a prominent hospitality and restaurant perspective.

YO! Sushi is sometimes associated with later Dragon's Den investors simply because the programme has featured many food businesses. The relevant fact is about Woodroffe's own company and predates his television role. He was also involved in the YOTEL hotel concept after his time with the restaurant brand.
