NDcube took over as the main Mario Party developer beginning with Mario Party 9.
Mario Party 9 was released for Wii in 2012 and was the first entry in the series not developed by Hudson Soft, the studio behind the preceding main games. NDcube subsequently developed Mario Party 10, the handheld entries, Super Mario Party, and Mario Party Superstars.
The transition followed major changes at Hudson Soft, including its acquisition and dissolution by Konami in 2012. Several Hudson Soft employees moved to Nd Cube, helping preserve experience with the series while the developer changed.
A common naming mix-up comes from the company’s later rebranding. It was known as Nd Cube, then NDcube, and became Nintendo Cube in 2024. NDcube is therefore the canonical answer for Mario Party 9-era trivia.
