Which designer staged the 2010 fashion show called Plato’s Atlantis?
Answer
Alexander McQueen
Answer
Alexander McQueen
Alexander McQueen staged the 2010 fashion show called Plato’s Atlantis.
The Spring/Summer 2010 collection was McQueen’s final fully realized collection before his death in February 2010. It explored evolution, climate change and a possible future in which humanity had adapted to life beneath the sea. The presentation used sculptural clothing, reptile-like prints and the distinctive Armadillo shoe.
The show also became an important digital-fashion milestone because it was streamed live online, allowing viewers around the world to watch the presentation. Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” later used imagery and garments associated with the collection in its music video.
Plato’s Atlantis is sometimes confused with McQueen’s earlier “The Horn of Plenty” or with his 1999 No. 13 show. Those collections had different themes and runway effects. Plato’s Atlantis was presented in Paris in October 2009 for the Spring/Summer 2010 season.
