Which design house styled the Lamborghini Countach?
Answer
Bertone
Answer
Bertone
The Lamborghini Countach was styled by Bertone, the Italian design house where designer Marcello Gandini created its dramatic wedge-shaped form.
Lamborghini began the LP112 project around 1970 as a successor to the Miura. Engineer Paolo Stanzani supplied the technical brief, while Gandini and Bertone developed the body. The design pushed a low, angular profile that differed sharply from the Miura’s smoother curves and helped define the visual language of 1970s supercars.
Bertone’s work drew on earlier concepts such as the 1968 Alfa Romeo Carabo and the 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero. Those cars explored wedge shapes and unconventional details that reappeared in the Countach, including its extremely low nose and scissor doors.
A common mix-up is answering Marcello Gandini, which names the individual designer rather than the design house requested. Zagato, Italdesign, and Pininfarina were also influential Italian coachbuilders, but they did not style the Countach.
