The denim company founded in 2000 by Adriano Goldschmied and Yul Ku is AG Jeans.
AG Jeans emerged in Los Angeles at the beginning of the premium-denim boom. Adriano Goldschmied brought extensive denim-design experience, while Yul Ku contributed manufacturing and business expertise. Their partnership helped establish a company focused on refined washes, modern cuts and jeans positioned as fashion products rather than basic work clothing.
AG is sometimes confused with 7 For All Mankind because both are Los Angeles premium-denim brands associated with the same broad period. They are not the same company, however, and their founding teams differ. AG’s name is commonly presented as “AG Jeans,” while the company has also used the shorter “AG” branding.
The brand later expanded beyond jeans into other apparel, but denim remained its defining category. Its launch date places it among the labels that helped make premium jeans a major fashion segment in the United States.
