Which delivery man on the show used the phrase "Speedy Delivery"?
Answer
Mr. McFeely
Answer
Mr. McFeely
Mr. McFeely was the delivery man on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood who used the phrase “Speedy Delivery.”
Played by David Newell, Mr. McFeely regularly arrived at Mister Rogers' house with letters, packages, or news from the neighborhood. His signature phrase announced his arrival and gave the character an energetic, friendly entrance. He sometimes delivered items to the puppet residents as well, making him one of the few characters who could move between the real-world and Make-Believe portions of the program.
Mr. McFeely was named after Fred Rogers' middle name, McFeely, which came from Rogers' maternal family. Newell joined the program in 1968 and remained closely associated with the character throughout its run. He also worked behind the scenes in public relations for Family Communications, the company that produced the show.
The phrase is often remembered as part of the character's name, but “Speedy Delivery” was his catchphrase, not his formal title. The delivery man himself was Mr. McFeely.
