Which Danish physicist debated Albert Einstein on quantum mechanics?

The Danish physicist who debated Albert Einstein about quantum mechanics was Niels Bohr. Their disagreements became known as the Bohr–Einstein debates and helped shape the interpretation of quantum theory.

Einstein and Bohr respected one another but disagreed about what quantum mechanics meant. Einstein objected to the theory’s apparent randomness and questioned whether it provided a complete description of reality. Bohr defended complementarity, the idea that apparently conflicting descriptions, such as wave and particle behavior, could both be necessary depending on the experiment.

Their most famous exchanges took place around the Solvay Conferences, especially the 1927 meeting in Brussels. Einstein proposed thought experiments intended to challenge uncertainty and quantum indeterminacy; Bohr developed responses showing why the proposed experiments did not overturn the theory.

The debates were not a simple personal feud. Both men made major contributions to quantum physics, and they remained friends despite their philosophical differences. Einstein helped introduce the idea of light quanta, while Bohr developed an influential model of the atom and became one of the leading defenders of the Copenhagen interpretation.
