Which C.S. Lewis novel follows the cosmic travels of Ransom to Venus?

The story behind the answer

Perelandra follows C.S. Lewis’s protagonist Ransom to Venus.

Perelandra is the second novel in Lewis’s Space Trilogy, also known as the Ransom Trilogy. It was published in 1943, following Out of the Silent Planet, and sends Elwin Ransom to the planet Venus, called Perelandra in the novel.

The story develops a cosmic reimagining of temptation and innocence. Ransom encounters a newly created world and becomes involved in a struggle whose consequences extend beyond the planet itself. Lewis combines speculative fiction with theological and philosophical themes.

The novel is sometimes confused with That Hideous Strength, the trilogy’s third installment, which is set mainly on Earth. Out of the Silent Planet is the first book and takes Ransom to Mars, called Malacandra. Perelandra is specifically the Venus-centered middle volume.
