Which C.S. Lewis novel features the space traveler Ransom visiting Perelandra?

The story behind the answer

Perelandra is the C.S. Lewis novel in which the space traveler Ransom visits the planet Perelandra.

Published in 1943, Perelandra is the second novel in Lewis’s Space Trilogy, also called the Ransom Trilogy. The protagonist, Elwin Ransom, travels to Perelandra, identified with the planet Venus, where he encounters a newly created world and a temptation echoing the biblical account of humanity’s fall.

The trilogy begins with Out of the Silent Planet and concludes with That Hideous Strength. Perelandra is sometimes identified only by the planetary name, but it is also known by the title Voyage to Venus in some editions and contexts. The novel blends planetary romance, Christian theology, philosophical debate, and mythic imagery rather than following the conventions of hard science fiction.
