Answer
Till We Have Faces
Answer
Till We Have Faces
Till We Have Faces features the fictional world of Glome.
Published in 1956, Till We Have Faces is Lewis’s retelling of the ancient myth of Cupid and Psyche. The narrator, Orual, is a princess of Glome who reflects on family, power, jealousy, faith, and the difficulty of seeing truth clearly.
The novel is divided into two parts. Orual’s first-person account presents her accusations against the gods, while the later portion revisits her understanding of those events. Lewis considered the book one of his best works, although it has never achieved the mass readership of the Narnia stories.
Glome is not a real historical kingdom. Lewis created it as a fictional setting influenced by classical myth and ancient Mediterranean cultures. The book’s title comes from a line about the need to have faces before the gods.
