Answer
Till We Have Faces
Answer
Till We Have Faces
C.S. Lewis’s novel featuring Orual and Psyche is Till We Have Faces.
Published in 1956, Till We Have Faces: A Myth Retold revises the ancient myth of Cupid and Psyche. The story is narrated mainly by Orual, a princess who becomes queen of the fictional kingdom of Glome. Her relationship with her half-sister Psyche drives the novel’s emotional and philosophical conflict.
Unlike the Narnia books, this novel was written for adults and uses a darker, more psychologically complex setting. Lewis described it as a retelling of the myth from the viewpoint of the older sister, whose accusations and self-understanding change over the course of the book.
The title refers to the idea that people cannot truly encounter one another—or the divine—until they possess an honest identity. The work is often regarded as one of Lewis’s most mature novels.
