Which C.S. Lewis book retells the biblical story of creation through the character of Aslan?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis’s book that retells the biblical story of creation through Aslan is The Magician’s Nephew.

The Magician’s Nephew is the sixth Narnia book by publication order and the first by the story’s internal chronology. Published in 1955, it follows Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer as they travel between worlds using magical rings created by Digory’s uncle Andrew. Their journey brings them to a dark, empty world that becomes Narnia.

Aslan sings Narnia into existence, and the scene echoes the creation account in Genesis while remaining part of Lewis’s fantasy mythology. The novel also explains the origin of the wardrobe’s wood and the lamp-post that later appear in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The witch Jadis, later known as the White Witch, is introduced before her arrival in Narnia.

The title refers to Uncle Andrew, whose experiments and magical ambitions set the plot in motion. Readers sometimes mistake the book’s internal-first position for its publication position; Lewis originally published it after five earlier Narnia stories.
