Which C.S. Lewis book presents his BBC broadcasts on Christian belief?

The story behind the answer

Mere Christianity presents C.S. Lewis’s BBC broadcasts on Christian belief.

The broadcasts were delivered during the Second World War, beginning in 1941, when Lewis spoke to a British radio audience about morality, Christian doctrine, and the common ground shared by major Christian traditions. The talks were later revised and collected as a book, first published in 1952.

The title does not refer to a denomination called “Mere Christianity.” Lewis used the phrase for the central beliefs he believed were shared across historic Christianity. The book is often confused with The Problem of Pain, another major work of Christian apologetics, but that earlier book addresses suffering and was not the collection of the BBC talks. Mere Christianity became one of Lewis’s most widely read nonfiction works.
