Which C.S. Lewis book is a retelling of the biblical story of the Fall through science fiction?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis’s science-fiction novel Perelandra retells the biblical story of the Fall. Published in 1943, it sends Elwin Ransom to the planet Perelandra, also called Venus, where he encounters a newly created world facing temptation.

Ransom must oppose a demonic adversary who tries to persuade the planet’s Green Lady to disobey the command that governs her new society. The novel develops themes of innocence, freedom, obedience, and the possibility of a world that has not yet fallen.

Perelandra is the second book in Lewis’s Space Trilogy, following Out of the Silent Planet and preceding That Hideous Strength. It is sometimes mistaken for a simple Venus adventure, but its central structure deliberately parallels Genesis while creating its own alien setting and mythology.
