Which C.S. Lewis book argues that modern society can be harmed by rejecting objective moral values?

The story behind the answer

The Abolition of Man argues that rejecting objective moral values can damage human judgment and society.

Lewis first delivered the ideas as three lectures at Durham University in 1943. The lectures were published as a short book in the same year and became one of his most important works of moral philosophy.

The book criticizes an approach to education that treats value judgments as merely subjective feelings. Lewis argues that some moral principles belong to a shared tradition of human reasoning, which he calls the Tao.

The title does not describe a literal extinction of humanity. It refers to the possible transformation of human beings into creatures whose reason and moral agency have been weakened by technological and ideological control.
