Which cruise ship was the first to use the North Star observation capsule?
Answer
Quantum of the Seas
Answer
Quantum of the Seas
Quantum of the Seas was the first cruise ship to use Royal Caribbean’s North Star observation capsule.
The ship entered service in 2014 as the lead vessel of Royal Caribbean’s Quantum class. North Star is a glass-enclosed capsule mounted on a mechanical arm that rises above the ship and moves outward over the sides, providing elevated views.
Quantum of the Seas introduced several features that Royal Caribbean marketed as new experiences, including North Star, the SeaPlex entertainment area, and robotic bartenders at the Bionic Bar. The capsule is designed for sightseeing rather than transportation between decks.
Ovation, Anthem, and Spectrum of the Seas also received North Star capsules because they belong to the same broader class family. They did not introduce the feature; Quantum of the Seas did.
