Which cruise ship was the first to feature the Central Park neighborhood?

The story behind the answer

Oasis of the Seas was the first cruise ship to feature Royal Caribbean’s Central Park neighborhood. The ship entered service in 2009 as the first Oasis-class vessel.

Central Park is an open-air area located near the middle of the ship. It contains living plants, landscaped paths, restaurants, shops, and public spaces, creating a park-like environment several decks above the sea. The neighborhood formed part of the ship’s distinctive division into themed districts.

Oasis of the Seas was built by STX Europe at the Turku shipyard in Finland. At its launch, it was among the largest passenger ships ever constructed and introduced a scale of onboard facilities that resembled a resort more than a conventional liner.

Later Oasis-class ships also included Central Park, so the feature is not unique to the first vessel. The key distinction is that Oasis of the Seas introduced the neighborhood to Royal Caribbean’s fleet.
