Which cruise line operated MS Disney Magic, its first ship, when the vessel entered service in 1998?

The story behind the answer

Disney Cruise Line operated MS Disney Magic, its first ship, when the vessel entered service in 1998.

Disney Magic was built by Fincantieri in Italy and entered service on 30 July 1998. It was the first ship of the newly established Disney Cruise Line, which had been created by The Walt Disney Company to expand its vacation business at sea.

The ship’s design combined modern cruise facilities with details inspired by classic ocean liners. Its Art Deco-influenced interiors, family entertainment and character-based programming helped distinguish Disney’s product from other cruise brands.

Disney Magic is sometimes confused with Disney Wonder, which became the line’s second ship in 1999. Magic originally sailed from Port Canaveral and became closely associated with cruises to the Bahamas and the Caribbean.
