Which course hosted the 2023 Solheim Cup?

The story behind the answer

The 2023 Solheim Cup was hosted at Finca Cortesin in Casares, Andalusia, Spain. The matches took place from 22 to 24 September 2023, marking the first time the biennial women’s team competition was held in Spain.

Finca Cortesin is a par-72 resort course that was set up at 6,903 yards for the event. The competition used match play, with Europe and the United States each fielding 12 players under captains Suzann Pettersen and Stacy Lewis.

The contest ended in a 14–14 draw after 28 matches. Because the defending champion retains the Solheim Cup when the overall score is tied, Europe kept the trophy rather than the United States reclaiming it. That result extended Europe’s hold after its 2021 victory.

Finca Cortesin is sometimes confused with Gleneagles, which hosted the 2019 Solheim Cup in Scotland. The 2023 edition also helped return the competition to an even-numbered-year schedule after the calendar was disrupted by the postponed 2020 Ryder Cup.
