Which country’s national flag has a golden crown in its upper hoist corner?

The story behind the answer

Liechtenstein’s national flag is a blue-and-red horizontal bicolor with a golden crown in the upper hoist corner.

The crown was added in 1937 to distinguish Liechtenstein’s flag from Haiti’s, whose civil flag had a similar blue-and-red arrangement. The crown represents the unity of the people, the state, and the princely house. Before 1937, the flag did not include this emblem.

Liechtenstein’s colors come from the livery of the princely household and were used in the nineteenth century. The country is a landlocked principality between Switzerland and Austria. Its state flag and civil flag share the same basic design, though official ceremonial use can include additional heraldic forms.
