Which country won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022 with Kalush Orchestra’s “Stefania”?

The story behind the answer

Ukraine won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022 with Kalush Orchestra’s “Stefania.”

The Ukrainian group performed the song in Turin, Italy. “Stefania” blends rap, folk singing and traditional Ukrainian instruments, including the sopilka, and is dedicated to the group’s mothers.

Ukraine received 631 points, including a record 439 points from the public vote under the contest’s split jury-and-televote system. The United Kingdom finished second with Sam Ryder’s “Space Man.”

The victory was Ukraine’s third Eurovision win, following victories in 2004 and 2016. Because of the ongoing Russian invasion, the 2023 contest was hosted by the United Kingdom on behalf of Ukraine.
