Answer
Netherlands
The Netherlands won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019 with Duncan Laurence’s “Arcade.”
The final was held in Tel Aviv, Israel, on 18 May 2019. “Arcade” finished first with 498 points: 261 from juries and 237 from the public vote. Sweden placed sixth overall but won the jury vote, while Norway won the televote with “Spirit in the Sky.”
Duncan Laurence performed under his stage name; his given name is Duncan de Moor. “Arcade” was written by Laurence with Joel Sjöö, Wouter Hardy and Will Knox. The song became a major streaming success after the contest and later gained renewed popularity on social media.
The Netherlands’ victory was its fifth. Its previous wins had come in 1957, 1959, 1969 and 1975. The 2020 contest was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so the Netherlands did not host a contest immediately after its 2019 win.
