Which country won Eurovision 1992 with Linda Martin’s song “Why Me?”

The story behind the answer

Ireland won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1992 with Linda Martin’s song “Why Me?”

The contest was held in Malmö, Sweden, where Martin performed the winning ballad near the end of the running order. “Why Me?” was written by Johnny Logan, who had already won Eurovision twice as a singer and songwriter.

Martin’s victory gave Ireland its fourth Eurovision win. The song led the final scoreboard over the United Kingdom’s Michael Ball, who finished second with “One Step Out of Time.”

Ireland’s 1992 success began a particularly strong period for the country. It won again in 1993 and 1994, making Ireland the first country to achieve three consecutive Eurovision victories.
